1. Today student faces a lot of pressure from their studies, and homework is a
big part of that. While homework is meant to help students learn, too much of it
can increase their stress. Stress has become an increasing issue in an individual's
daily life, and students are particularly vulnerable to its effects.
Students often encounter challenges when confronted with these bring-home
activities, despite their prior knowledge of a particular subject. An excessive
amount of homework can contribute to the student's stress. It's important to note
that a student's traits and understanding of a certain topic also play a significant
role.
By focusing on senior high school students, this study can provide valuable
insights into the unique challenges and stressors faced by this age group.
Understanding the specific effects of various homework assignments on student
stress can empower educators to develop more effective and supportive teaching
methods. Some studies suggest that to ensure homework is an effective teaching
tool rather than being a cause for concern, a well-rounded approach that
considers each student's individual needs and abilities is crucial.
2. According to Haq, M. N. U., Shakil, A. F., & Din, M. N. U. in the year 2020.
Homework is the means by which the relationship between home and school is
demonstrated and developed. Leading to more consistent progress in all aspects
of school life.
3. The purpose of this study is to investigate the lack of specific studies
examining the effects of various homework assignments on stress in senior high
school students. The relationship between stress and homework has been the
subject of a few other studies, yet it remains unclear how the different types and
amounts of homework impact the students’ mental health. The findings of this
study could be the catalyst that sparks a new educational reform movement,
where pedagogy is reshaped to create a more inclusive and supportive learning
environment.
Additionally, this study is also meant to be a part of the already existing
discussion on the importance of homework in education. The study can help
show how exactly homework can cause stress to senior high school students.
Therefore, making educators informed on how to make decisions about the
appropriate amount and type of homework to assign.
4. To bridge the gap, this study will directly engage senior high school students
through surveys and interviews to gather insights into their specific experiences
with different types of homework. The research will also explore how various
homework assignments impact stress levels over time. Considering unique
student perspectives and cultural contexts.
This study seeks to offer a more thorough understanding of the impact of
assignments on the mental health of students by integrating a student-centered
approach with both qualitative insights and quantitative data. To further enrich
the understanding of this topic, the study will also delve into the relationship
between homework load and student's academic performance, as well as their
overall well-being. Additionally, the research will explore how different
teaching styles and approaches to homework assignments influence student
stress levels.
5. The results of this study contribute to the body of knowledge by providing a
deeper understanding of how homework load affects student stress over either
short or long terms. Through exploring how different types of homework and
student demographics influence stress levels. The study offers more nuanced
insights into the relationship between academic demands and mental well-being.
Examining the effectiveness of various coping strategies and support systems
can also inform better practices and policies for managing homework.
Integrating teachers' perspectives adds another layer of understanding,
potentially leading to more balanced homework practices that support student
mental health and academic success.
