Narrative Essay #2 Final Draft
She always knew this moment would come, the moment she always dreamed about. She
had waited years and years to be here; it was her wedding day—the day when you get to be with
that one person for the rest of your life. The anticipation is something she had never felt before.
The nerves and excitement are running around her head. She remembers being a little girl and
seeing all the adults getting married. They were so happy and made her want that feeling when
she got older. It is finally her turn. This is the story of Brooke, whose biggest dream came true.
As a young girl, Brooke grew up in a typical household with two loving parents. She
lived in a big, spacious house where she played around. She was the only child, so she could
have whatever she wanted. Although life seemed perfect on the outside, Brooke struggled inside.
When her parents started to fight with each other, she began to feel lonely. When this would
happen, she would go outside and sit, waiting for the arguing to stop. In a journal she kept for
years, Brooke would write down every feeling she ever had. One day, she remembered a car
passing by with the words just married written out. The newlywed bride and groom looked so
happy as they drove by. The bride looked at Brooke, threw her the veil, and waved goodbye. She
held onto that veil and saw what love and happiness looked like. It was a moment she would
never forget.
As Brooke got older, she started letting go of her resentment towards her parents. She just
wanted to enjoy life. She sought out the love that felt unknown to her every chance she could.
She became the most popular girl at school, and everyone wanted to be like her. While this
masked her true feelings, she used it to her advantage. Brooke was able to use her popularity as a
way to get love from everyone around. However, she wanted that one person to see her for her.

When she thought love had found her, it would slip away. She felt as though something was
wrong with her. She couldn’t understand why it was so hard for someone to let her in and be who
she needed them to be. With so much hurt and pain at a young age, Brooke realized she needed
to focus on herself and find love inside first.
As time passed, Brooke developed a sense of strength and self-love that carried her into
adulthood. She used this to become a successful businesswoman and a loving friend. Eventually,
love found her when she wasn’t looking for it. Julian, a man who was not her favorite person,
took her by surprise, and they created a bond like no other. He saw the real Brooke, the one not
many could crack. Julian would do anything to make Brooke the happiest person in the world.
Brooke felt like she had to be guarded since she had gotten her heart broken too many times
before. Everything fell into place once she let go and did what made her happy.
One day, she finally got her wish. She saw Julian get down on one knee and ask her to
marry him. The answer was an immediate yes. When the day finally came, she could only think
about that little girl. The girl who waited so long for love. That little girl inside was able to be
healed by true love. She finally got her happy ending. The moment had finally come; Brooke
walked down the aisle and was a part of the love stories she used to write about. She looked
around at the church, gazing at the beautiful features. She saw Julian and locked eyes with him.
At that moment, she knew this person was meant for her. After all they had gone through, this
was their happily ever after. With tears rolling down her face and a big smile, she said, “I do,”
for everyone to hear.
