Session Zero: The Story So Far.
I
n a world teetering on the brink of extinction,
where once-thriving human civilization now lies
in ruins, remnants of a long-forgotten conflict
wander the land. Warforged, once loyal weapons
of war, have shifted allegiance, and their dormant
forms dot the landscape. Magic, rare and coveted,
weaves through shimmering elven cities,
guarding against the unraveling Veil—a delicate balance
threatened by primal forces. Amidst orc war cries
echoing in the badlands, dwarven mountain holds stand
as resilient bastions, waging relentless battles against
Underdark denizens. Whispers persist of a cult
awakening the Black Dragon—an ancient force
slumbering beneath the earth. And where are the
enigmatic Dawnbringers, protectors of equilibrium?
Their absence burdens others with the task of mending
the Veil. As reality trembles, destiny awaits those who
dare to shape the world anew.”
1. Warforged Origins: Long ago, humans forged the
Warforged as weapons of war. These constructs,
once loyal to their creators, now lie dormant or
wander the land—a haunting reminder of a conflict
lost to time.
2. The Great War’s Tragic Turn: In the climactic battle
of the Great War, humans nearly triumphed. But
desperation drove the Warforged to unleash a
devastating plague—a final, desperate gambit. The
human population dwindled, and their once-proud
settlements crumbled.
3. Human Extinction: Humans now teeter on the brink
of oblivion. Their once-thriving civilization exists as
scattered outposts, clinging to survival. Ruins and
forgotten memories bear witness to their legacy.
4. Magic’s Rarity: Magic, revered and coveted, courses
through the veins of this world. Elves, with their
innate affinity for the arcane, wield its power
gracefully. Their shimmering cities guard against the
unraveling Veil, a delicate balance threatened by
primal forces.
5. Orcs and the Badlands: In the badlands, Orc war
cries echo. With no humans to keep them in check,
they amass their forces, their ambitions shrouded in
shadow. The delicate equilibrium trembles.
6. Dwarven Mountain Holds: Dwarves, resilient and
steadfast, dwell in mountain holds. They wage
relentless war against the Duergar and other
Underdark denizens, guarding their ancestral homes
with unwavering determination.
7. Cult of the Black Calamity: Whispers persist—a cult
devoted to awakening the Black Calamity, an ancient
force slumbering beneath the earth. Its emergence
could tip the scales irreversibly, plunging the world
into chaos.
8. Veil and Elemental Nexus: The Veil of Balance and
the Elemental Nexus share an intricate connection.
Deep within the world, the Nexus channels primal
energies—magic, climate, and emotion. Its
fluctuations ripple through reality, threatening to
tear the Veil asunder.
9. The Missing Dawnbringers: Once enigmatic
protectors of equilibrium, the Dawnbringers are
absent. Their silver sunburst pendants lie forgotten,
burdening others with the task of mending the Veil
and preserving what remains of this fractured world.
