LEARNING ACTIVITY SHEETS (LAS) Grade 7 – Science PROPERTIES AND CHARACTERISTICS OF SOUND Activity 1: Map the Sound NASA PAPEL ANG SAGOT BLEH Activity 2: Mini-Lab Sound Production 1. What did you produce when you tapped a bottle with a spoon?: Sound was produced when I tapped a bottle with a spoon. 2. What did you observe when you tapped a. an empty bottle?: When I tapped an empty bottle, it produced a hollow sound. b. a bottle with 1/4 amount of tap water?: When I tapped a bottle with ¼ amount of tap water, it produced a high pitch sound. c. a bottle with 1/2 amount of tap water?: When I tapped a bottle with ½ amount of tap water, it produced a high pitch sound with a bit of low pitch sound. d. a bottle with 3/4 amount of tap water?: When I tapped a bottle with ¾ amount of tap water, it produced a low pitch sound. Discussion How is sound produced and changed?: Sound id produced by vibration of molecules. Sound is changed because of the area. THE COLORS OF THE VISIBLE LIGHT Part A: The Rainbow 1. How do you describe the path that the light passes through when it travels?: The path that the light passes through when it travels, is the prism. The prism is where the colors: Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue and violet are turned into plain light (white light) IBALIKTAD MO DEN TO. 2. What happens during dispersion of light?: The 6 colors passes through the prism and after it passes it turned into white light. IBALIKTAD MO BAHAHAHHA 3. What are the different colors of light?: The different colors of light are Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue and violet. 4. Similarly, how are rainbows formed up in the sky?: Part B: Light and the Electromagnetic Spectrum 5. What are the different parts of the electromagnetic spectrum?: The different parts of the electromagnetic spectrum are Radio wave, Microwave, Infrared Ray, Visible Light (R-O-Y-G-B-V), Ultraviolet ray, X-ray and Gamma Ray. 6. Which wave characteristic/s is/are increasing from left to right of the spectrum?: It is Radio wave, Microwave, Infrared Ray, Visible Light (R-O-Y-G-B-V), Ultraviolet ray, X-ray and Gamma Ray in increasing order. 7. Which wave characteristic/s is/are decreasing from left to right of the spectrum?: It is Gamma Ray, X-ray, Ultraviolet Ray, Visible Light (R-O-Y-G-B-V), Infrared Ray, Microwave and Radio Wave in decreasing order. 8. How are the different parts of the electromagnetic spectrum arranged accordingly?: The electromagnetic spectrum is accordingly arranged from high to low frequency, shortest to longest wavelength and is in increasing order. 9. Which part of the electromagnetic spectrum has a.) the longest wavelength?: The Radio Wave has the longest wavelength. b.) the shortest wavelength?: The Gamma Ray has the shortest wavelength. c.) the highest frequency?: The Radio Wave has the highest frequency. d.) the lowest frequency?: The Gamma Ray has the lowest frequency. 10. What happens to the frequency when wavelength increases?: When the wavelength devreases, the frequency gets lower. 11. Which wave characteristic increases with energy?: The wave characteristic that increases with energy is the wavelength. 12. Which part of the electromagnetic spectrum has a.) the highest energy?: The Gamma ray has the highest energy. b.) the lowest energy?: The Radio Wave has the lowest energy. 13. Compare the following waves by writing <, > or = in the column between the waves: SEARCH “HOW TO COMPARE WAVES SCIENCE” WAVELENGTH: 1.> 2.> FREQUENCY: 1.> 2.< ENERGY: 1.< 2.> ALSO SEARCH THIS ON GOOGLE: 14. In what order of listing is the visible light in the electromagnetic waves? Part C: The Colors of the Visible Light SEARCH THIS TOO: 15. Which wave characteristics serves as the basis of the color spectrum of light? 16. Which color of light has a.) the longest wavelength?: The color red has the longest wavelength b.) the shortest wavelength?: The color violet has the shortest wavelength. c.) the highest frequency?: The color red has the highest frequency. d.) the lowest frequency?: The color violet has the lowest frequency. e.) the greatest energy?: The color violet has the greatest energy. f.) the least energy?: The color red has the least energy. 17. If these colors of light are arranged properly, how should it be a.) in order of increasing wavelength?: RED, ORANGE, YELLOE, GREEN, BLUE AND VIOLET b.) in order of increasing frequency?: VIOLET, BLUE, GREEN, YELLOW, ORANGE AND RED. c.) in order of increasing energy?: RED, ORANGE, YELLOE, GREEN, BLUE AND VIOLET
