A Plan to change the social narrative about African American success in the work industry by journaling and
public speaking about past accomplishments in order to propel future success in African Americans
throughout the country
The Problem:
An integral part of being
successful in life is being
able to reflect on the
successes of other.
Representation within a
field is critical when
striving for great thing in
life. The lack of discussion
about African American in
the work industry
especially in fields such as
IT, Medical, and the Film
industry, not only
diminish the
accomplishments of
African americans but
perpetuate a cycle of less
men and women in those
fields
Leadership Plan:
In order to make other aware of the unknown successes of African
americans due to minimal representation, research about important
figures in different fields needs to be done. Following multiple research
session, members will come together to discuss different ways to get
information out there. Public speaking, journalism, short videos, etc. are
examples of how the information will be spread. These information
outlets will be let out bi-weekly, in order to maintain consistency.
Vision:
The vision for this project is that students
are encouraged and empowered to conduct
research about African American success
and are confident in representing and
sharing that with others. Ultimately,
members should be encouraged to talk
about their goals and convey how it
coincides with current successes by
African american men and women
Leadership Style:
Democratic leadership would be
best for this project. By allowing
everyone to be a critical part of
the decision-making process,
different outlets to express the
successes of African americans
can be suggested and used for the
best, most effective outcome.
