If you're a fan of the minimalist wardrobe, you would have hit on their uniform dressing. It seems to be a trending fashion not to engage with fashion - but do we really want to go back to the medieval ages where the peasants all wore dull browns and greys. Even then, the aristocracy wore brilliant hues to express their individuality as well as their wealth - and it wasn't just the women! In today's world of abundance, its not just the aristocracy who can revel in rich colours and novel silhouettes. Fast fashion means there is a plethora of choices at an affordable range for those who want to look good - at a fraction of the price. Apart from expressing personal choice, Fashion is also a huge industry, a powerhouse driving a cycle of manufacturing and buying to provide incomes, profits and even intergenerational wealth. It employs people ranging from graphic designers to models to seamstresses. The economic livelihood of millions of people depends on people wanting - and buying- a variety of clothes. Not to mention that fast fashion makes up 35% of microplastic that flows into the ocean. But these aren't the only ones to blame. Consumers buy this fast fashion and throw it out within months.
