Misinformation vs Disinformation
Misinformation and disinformation are one of growing concern in worldwide
digital stage. The rapid spread of false information is a big problem because of its
effect now we’re going to know What is misinformation and disinformation? What are
the similarity and difference between misinformation and disinformation?
Misinformation is a false or misleading information, unintentionally, presented
as fact. It is when someone believes something is accurate, but in reality, it is not.
Misinformation is a false information that is spread, regardless of intent to mislead. For
example, say it the Graduation Starts at 2pm but you forget or misread the invitation
and you tell to your friend that it is starts at 3pm. While the Disinformation is a False
or misleading information but purposefully distributed. It is when one believes to be
untrue but shares it anyway. It is also used more generally to mean “deliberately
misleading or biased information; manipulative narrative or facts; propaganda”. Back
from earlier example. Now you know that the start of graduation is at 2pm but you tell
your hate friend that it starts at 3pm because you want them to late.
Misinformation and Disinformation have some similarities including : they are
both contribute to spread false information, both can influence public people, can
create confusion or distrust and affect decision -making , and both have potential harm
to all of us and Both can have harmful effects to each individual, societies, and
communities However there are also have some differences including: Misinformation
is unintentional, while Disinformation is intentionally created and spread with the
purpose, Misinformation can be originated from well – meaning individuals who
misinform, whereas disinformation usually comes from deliberate sources.
