Learning Outcomes
• LO1. Contrast how networking technologies and protocols support the
delivery of different network services.
• LO2. Identify network vulnerabilities and be able to explain how these can
be exploited to attack and harm network services.
• LO3. Explain how the implementation of a network service may be
protected against a specified exploitation of a vulnerability
• LO4. Design, develop and monitor network services that are secure
against attacks

• We look at how networks work
• local networks, such as one in a
lab or a company, and the Internet
• and how to secure them
• and applications that use a
network – examples are
Whatsapp, websites, smart TVs
• as is tradition, we follow the 7layer ISO/OSI network model
• adapted by the Internet community
to 5 layers
