B.
Performance Standards
The learners demonstrate an understanding of motion in one dimension.
Competency: The students should be able to
1. describe the motion of an object in terms of distance or displacement, speed
or velocity, and acceleration:
C. Learning Competencies/
Objectives
(Write the LC code)
Specific Objectives: The learners are expected to
1. define distance and displacement ,
2. differentiate distance from displacement and
3. appreciate the significance of distance and displacement.

or presenting the new
lesson
Recall: Pick Me Up!
Let the students count off 1-25. A certain student will pick a number and the student
with that particular number will answer a specific question as a sort of recap.
These are the following questions to be asked:
1.What is speed?
2.How does speed differs from velocity?
3.What is the formula in computing speed?
4.What is the formula in calculating the acceleration?

Motion - is the change in position of an object with respect to its reference point.
involves the concepts of distance and displacement.
can be described in terms of speed, velocity, and acceleration.
Two Physical quantities
1.Scalar quantities - are physical quantities that are fully described by their
magnitude (numerical value) only.
- do not have a direction associated with them.
Examples include distance(7km), speed(7km/hr), time(7s), and
mass(7kg).
2.Vector quantities - are physical quantities that have both magnitude and
direction.
Examples : Displacement(20 m east), velocity(30m/s north),
acceleration (9.8m/s2 downward), and force ( 50N30 ∘ above
horizontal) are examples of vector quantities.
Distance -- is a scalar quantity that measures the total length of the path
traveled by an object.
For example, if you walk 5 meters forward and then 3 meters
backward, your total distance traveled is 8 meters.
Displacement - is a vector quantity that represents the change in position
of an object.
-It involves both the distance traveled and the direction of the motion.
For example, the cat starts at point A, moves 10 meters north, and
then returns 5 meters south. The cat's displacement from the starting
point is 5 meters north.
EVALUATE: (Written and Performance Based)
Group Activity: Label My Path!
A.
Let the students be in their group. Let them make a road map of one
of their groupmates , emphasizing the distance he/ she travelled from the
house to the school.
B.
After making the road map each member of the group will
demonstrate in front of the class.
