the same period of time” (Merriam-Webster).
✔Contemporary art refers to art created in the present
time and reflects the current cultural, social, and
political issues. It includes a wide range of mediums and
styles, often pushing boundaries and challenging
traditional norms.
WHAT IS EMERGING ART?
✔Emerging art refers to new and innovative forms of
artistic expression that are gaining recognition and
popularity.
✔Emerging art is art created by new or up-and-coming
artists who are beginning to gain recognition in the art
world. These artists often experiment with new
techniques and ideas.
WHAT IS CULTURAL IDENTITY
✔Cultural identity refers to the sense of belonging and
connection that individuals have to a particular culture or
group. In the context of contemporary and emerging arts,
cultural identity plays a significant role in shaping the
themes, styles, and messages portrayed in artworks.
✔Artists often draw inspiration from their cultural
backgrounds, incorporating traditional symbols, stories, and
practices into their creations.
WHAT IS CULTURAL DIVERSITY
✔Cultural diversity refers to the variety of different cultures
present in a society or group. In the context of arts, cultural
diversity plays a crucial role in shaping contemporary and
emerging art forms by incorporating influences from various
cultures around the world. This leads to the creation of unique
and diverse artworks that reflect the richness of different
cultural traditions, beliefs, and experiences.
✔Artists draw inspiration from diverse cultures, resulting in
artworks that blend different artistic styles and techniques.
