International Certificate Information for Candidates Thank you for choosing Pearson. We hope you enjoy your experience of taking our International Certificate qualifications. This document has been written to help you. Please read it carefully so you’re fullyprepared. If there is anything you do not understand please ask your teacher before the test. A – Preparation 1. Make sure you know the dates, times and locations of all your tests. Arrive at the time provided by your test centre before the start of each test. 2. If you arrive late for a test, report to the invigilator running the test. 3. Only take into the test room the pens, pencils, erasers and any other equipment which you need for the test. 4. You must write clearly and in blue or black ink. 5. You must not use correction fluid. If you change your mind about an answer put a line through it. 6. Prepare for the tests as well as you can. Feel free to prepare and study with your classmates and friends. Make sure your preparation enables you to show what you can do – don’t try to recite the same things as other candidates as you might be penalised. B – Understanding the rules 1. Be on time for all your tests. If you are late, your work might not be accepted. 2. Do not become involved in any unfair or dishonest practice during the test. 3. If you try to cheat, or break the rules in any way, you will be disqualified from all your tests. 4. You must not take into the test room: a) notes; b) textbooks or learning aids; c) web enabled sources of information such as an iPad, a mobile phone, an MP3/4 player or similar device, a smartwatch or a watch which has a data storage device. Remember: possession of unauthorised material is breaking the rules, even if you do not intend to use it, and could result in you being disqualified. 5. If you wear a wristwatch the invigilator will ask you to remove it and place it on your desk. 6. Do not use correcting pens, fluid or tape, erasable pens, highlighters or gel pens in your answers. Author:CQ DCL1: Public V2 March 2021 7. Do not talk to or try to communicate with, or disturb, other candidates once the test has started. 8. You must not write inappropriate, obscene or offensive material. 9. If you leave the test room unaccompanied by an invigilator before the test has finished, you will not be allowed to return. 10. Do not borrow anything from another candidate during the test. C – Instructions during the test 1. Always listen to the invigilator. Follow their instructions at all times. 2. Tell the invigilator at once if: a) you think you have not been given the right question paper or all of the materials listed on the front of the paper; b) the question paper is incomplete or badly printed. 3. Read carefully and follow the instructions printed on the question paper and/or on the answer booklet. 4. When the invigilator tells you, fill in all the details required on the front of the question paper and/or the answer booklet before you start the test. Remember to write your answers within the designated sections of the test booklet. 5. You can only leave the test room to go to the toilet. Make sure you ask for permission before you do so. D – Advice and help 1. If on the day of the test you feel that your work may be affected by ill health or any other reason, tell the invigilator. 2. Put up your hand during the test if: a) you have a problem and are in doubt about what you should do; b) you do not feel well; 3. You must not ask for, and will not be given, any explanation of the questions or particular words. E – At the end of the test 1. Do not take any stationery from the test room.
