Academic Research Essay Proposal – Lacrosse in the Olympics
In the last few months, lacrosse has been added back to the 2028 Los Angeles Summer
Olympics. As a woman lacrosse player, this is very exciting news for the community and the
game as a whole. To be honest, I always thought it was in the Olympics and never understood
why it was not. Little did I know, lacrosse was in the Olympics at one point, but was constantly
being added and removed throughout the history of the Olympics. Through quick good searches,
I never got the clear answer on why it was added and removed and the overall history of lacrosse
in the Olympics. Lacrosse in the Olympics has been controversial for years, with tons of players
pushing for it in the Olympics, but never understanding why it was removed. For my research
paper, I am going to dive into the history of lacrosse in the Olympics including, but not limited to
what years it was in the Olympics for, what teams, who won, why the sport was removed, and
more.
