ECU Key Write Procedure
1. Connect the HDS to the data link connector (DLC).
2. Select the ECU Key Writing application from the home menu of the HDS and follow the screen prompts to write the ECU Key.
NOTE:
You must turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode, wait for 5 minutes, then back to the ON mode after the completing the
writing process (successful or failed (error)). Failure to do so will permanently damage the control unit.
After writing the ECU Key, the control unit related with the ECU Key may trigger a DTC. Therefore, perform an all DTC check
and clear any DTC if necessary.

As driving support system is being enhanced and shifting to automated driving, vehicles are connected to many devices and networks
in order to obtain various information such as location information and traffic information.
While the necessary information can be obtained, there is also a danger that incorrect information will be sent to the vehicle's ECU
system.

For this reason, some ECU systems adopt ECU Keys for the purpose of strengthening security, based on a multiplexed monitoring
system on the network.
When replacing certain ECUs of a vehicle equipped with an ECU Key, an ECU Key writing process is necessary in addition to the
normal replacement process.
If writing is not performed after replacing an ECU, there is no effect on the basic driving operation of the vehicle, but the driving
support function may be affected.
In addition, if the ECU Key has not been written or is inconsistent, a DTC will be detected and a warning indicator will come on or
blink.
