IMPORT DATA Importing data in PowerPivot is easy with the following steps! 1. Go to Power Pivot Tab > Data Model > Manage 2. Go to Home > Get External Data > From Other Sources 3. Select Excel File and click Next 4. Click Browse to look for your Excel file with the data. 5. Select the file and click Open 6. Ensure Use First Row as Column Headers is ticked and click Next 7. Ensure the correct Worksheet(s) are selected and click Finish 8. Your data is now imported! LINK EXCEL TABLES TO DATA MODEL 1. Make sure your Excel Table is selected. Go to Power Pivot Tab > Tables > Add to Data Model 2. Ensure that My table has headers is ticked. And Click OK 3. Your data is now added to the Data Model! THE DIAGRAM VIEW 1. In the PowerPivot window, go to Home Tab > View > Diagram View 2. You can make changes as needed in this View. Once you are done you can go back via Home Tab > View > Data View CALCULATED FIELD / MEASURE 1. To create a new Calculated Field / Measure, go to: Home Tab > Calculations > Measures/Calculated Fields > New Measure/New Calculated Fields 2. Populate the Measure Name, Formula. Then click OK. CALCULATED COLUMN 1. To create a new Calculated Column, go to the first empty column in the Data Model Window 2. Go to the first cell and type in your function. You can also rename the column as well CREATE A ONE-TO-MANY RELATIONSHIP 1. We have a simple example of Sales numbers, and a list of Salespersons. We want to link the Salesperson name to both tables. 2. Go to Home Tab > View > Diagram View 3. Go to Design Tab > Relationships > Create Relationship 4. Ensure the correct columns are selected to form the relationship. Table2 is where the unique identifiers are i.e. The 1 relationship Table1 is where all the sales data are i.e. The Many relationship Hence, the 1 to Many relationship! Click OK once done 5. Your Relationship is now ready!
