The Apocalypse (Prologue)
“Jake, WAKE UP!!!” Will yelled. Jake mumbled something dumb.
“Something weird is happening!” Will repeated.
“What’s so important that you had to enter my room and wake me up for?” Jake
yawned.
“Just take a look outside!” Will replied.
Jake pulled himself out of the bed and looked out the window to see the
devastated world for the first time.
“Oh my god!” Jake cried. Jake’s eyes widened.
“What are those things?” Jake asked somewhat rhetorically, yet curiously.
“Why does it matter!?” Will retorted. “We have to get out of here! Some of these
‘things’ just barged through the front door of the apartment!”
Jake zoomed towards his wardrobe closet, opened the closet door, and revealed
a cabinet with guns.
“I didn’t know we had these, ” Will said accusingly.
“Hurry up!” Jake ordered. “Equip the guns.”
“You know how to shoot right?” Jake asked.
“Yeah, I applied for firearm certification, ” Will replied.
“Good for you, but the zombies are getting closer. Let’s make them wish they
were never alive, ” Jake cocked the gun.
They exited their apartment building and were greeted by a bunch of ‘things’.
After all the ‘things’ were shot they went and entered the other rooms in the apartment
building to find other survivors, but exited the building with no luck.
Chapter 1
Weeks have passed and Will and Jake found themselves a group of people
(Scar, Blaike & Bry) willing to let them join to survive. Scar is called scar because of a
huge, nasty, scar on his face. He had a funny personality and tended to make a joke out
of everything. Blaike is a young woman who used to be a mother until her kid got killed
by the zombies. She thinks that Bry is her kid because it helps her have a need to
survive the zombie attack. Bry is a kid around 10 years old and went to 5th grade before
the zombie attack. His entire family was asleep but he was still awake when they got
killed. He ran to a secret layer in the house which was where they found him, hiding by
himself. It was Jake and Will’s job to help keep the group united. The group called the
“things” zombies because they walk without any minds. They also figured out that the
zombies are attracted to sounds, not lights. They also learned that the military and the
government were killed in their sleep, though some still remained scattered around the
world.
“Scar, throw me the shotgun!” Jake shouted.
Scar hushed Jake, “Be quiet you might attract zombies.”
“Fine, but what do I use?” Scar replied.
“Well… If there just was a pistol in your backpack?” Jake said sarcastically. Scar
pulled out a Deagle 44.
“What, how did you know I had a pistol?” Scar joked.
Jake didn’t seem to catch Scar’s joke, “I have my ways”.
“Alright group, this mansion looks really huge and valuable, probably has
weapons or food that we could take. It also has a huge gate all around the house.” Will
said.
“Will, everyone follow my lead & Blaike, you protect Bry, ” Jake commanded.
Will attempted to pick the lock of the door.
“It’s already open, ” Jake turned the doorknob and sighed.
“I’ll go left, Jake, you go right and Blaike and Bry, you watch the door.” Will said.
Jake entered what looked like a kitchen that hasn’t been used for years. There
were broken chairs and a blood all over the wall. He checked every closet in the
kitchen until he found one with a huge board covering the wall behind it, or what he
thought was a wall.
“Find anything yet?” Will shouted from across the house.
“Be quiet!” Jake whispered. “Yeah, I think we should check this out.”
Will walked over to the other side of the house and saw the wood wall behind the
cabinet. Jake asked the group if they should open it and they all agreed on opening it.
“Ok, Will should we take out our sledgehammers to knock down the plank?” Jake
asked.
“Nah, sounds will attract the zombies.” Will replied.
“It’s our only option.”
“Fine.”
Jake and Will started working at the door. At first, the plank wasn’t budging but
when they hit the middle, it made a hole in the plank. Soon enough, there was a big
enough hole in the so that they could crawl through. Jake went first with Will and
followed behind. They followed a short passageway lined with around 4 doors on each
side. They went all the way until they found a huge door with a keyed padlock.
“Looks like we’ll have to find a code” Jake said with a tint of disappointment in his
voice.
Chapter 2
Our story continues a day later, after they called the boarded house their home
for now. They cleaned everything up, including the blood stains. They locked the front
door and patched up the gate so that it would block intruders. Also, every night
someone would stay up and be guard so that one would not and could not enter. Jake
also looked for the code the entire day but came to no luck.
“Will, maybe we should check those other houses next to this one. They look big,
maybe bigger than this one.” Jake said
“Yeah, we could be able to find what we actually came here for” Will replied.
The survivors walked into the next house which also had an opened gate. The
condition of the house was worse than the condition of their “home”. Everything was red
including the floor.
“Wait guys, why is the calendar not red?” Bry asked.
“What calender?” Replied everyone else.
“The only calendar that we saw. It was right in front of us when we walked in.”
“Should we go back in to check it?
