It inhibits reabsorption of sodium and chloride ions that leads to diuresis. Hydrochlorothiazide (HCTZ)- managing hypertension and reduces edema and can lead to increased urine and decreased blood volume. It also decreases proteinuria alongside taking loop diuretics. It increases the elimination of sodium and chloride by inhibiting the reabsorption of sodium and chloride in the distal convoluted tubules in the kidneys. Spironolactone- help preserve potassium levels and may prevent or alleviate muscle cramps associated with potassium depletion. Reduces sodium reabsorption at the distal tubule, thus decreasing potassium secretion. Mannitol - is used in treating Acute Kidney Injury due to Glomerulonephritis, it increases the urine output to reduce the risk of fluid overload. Osmotic diuretics are also used to treat Cerebral Edema caused by Glomerulonephritis by reducing the intracranial pressure. Prevents the reabsorption of water, sodium, and chloride. Acetazolamide - used to treat metabolic alkalosis caused by glomerulonephritis by helping promote the excretion of bicarbonate ions in the urine, it may also be used as an option for treating edema caused by . glomerulonephritis.
