Objectives must be met over the week and connected to the curriculum standards. To meet the objectives, necessary procedure must be followed and if
needed, additional lessons, exercises, remedial activities may be done for developing content knowledge and competencies. These are assessed using
Formative Assessment strategies. Valuing objectives support the learning of content and competencies and enable children to find significance and joy in
learning the
lessons. Weekly objectives shall be derived from the curriculum guide.
Understand the relationship of a written text and the context in which

III. PROCEDURES
These steps should be across the week. Spread out the activities appropriately so that students will learn well. Always be guided by demonstration of
learning by the students which you can infer from formative assessment activities. Sustain learning systematically by providing students with multiple
ways to learn new things, practice their learning, question their learning processes, and draw conclusion about what they learned in relation to their life
experiences and previous
knowledge. Indicate the time allotment for each step.
TEACHER’S ACTIVITY
LEARNER’S ACTIVITY
Routinary Activity:
-Prayer
Before we formally start our class, let us first ask
the guidance of the Lord.
Shiela, kindly lead the prayer
.
Shiela led the prayer
-Greetings
Good morning, class!
Good morning, ma’am!
I hope you’re having a good day.
- Checking of Attendance
Before anything else, is everyone present today? Yes ma’am!
Very good.
Classroom Management
Class, reminding you of our classroom rules.
Listen attentively and always keep your eyes on
the board during our discussion. Understand?
ELICIT
Last meeting, we discussed about Purposeful
Writing in the Disciplines and for Professional,
isn’t it?
Yes, ma’am
Now, tell me the definition of a book review.
Book Review is something that gives us vital
information about the book.
1. Title
Very well said! Then what are the elements of
book review? Can you enumerate these.
2. Author
3. Genre
4. Book Jacket/Cover
5. Structure or Format
Bravo! You remembered all the important things
that we had tackled last meeting. Continue
Showing an exemplary performance.
ENGAGE
I have here a text video. All you are going to do is
attentively watch this and afterwards, I will be
asking you some questions.
Okay, ma’am!
(The teacher presents the text-video)
(The students watch and read the text-video)
What is caged bird mainly about?
The poem describes the different experiences
of the two birds: one is free and the other one
is longing for freedom.
Based from the message of the poem, what do
you think is the theme or the background of the
text?
The background of the text is inequality.
Very good. Do you think the poem has something Yes, ma’am. The author might have
to do with the author?
experienced the feeling of being a caged bird.
That is right! Maya Angelou is a victim of racism. It
is based on her own personal struggles.
EXPLORE
You have just watched a video, right?
Yes, ma’am.
What does the activity give us?
It helps us identify the message, theme,
background of the text and the connection of
the text and the author.
That is right! Or in other words, this helps us
understand the context of the text.
When reading, what are the factors that you usually
There is always a development in texts.
observe in the text? Aside from the writer’s
technique, styles and ways to deliver whatever
purpose the text has, what else do you notice?
You got it right!
Today, we are going to discuss about the context
of text development mainly hypertext and intertext.
But before that, kindly read first our objectives.
At the end of lesson, learners must be able to:
a. Identify the context in which a
text was developed
b. Apply, develop, and present an
intertextual
and/or
hypertextual output, and
c. Appreciate the value of the
background of text and
enhance their self-confidence
through performing the given
activities.
When you hear the word context, what comes into Context pertains to the circumstances that
form the setting for an event.
your mind?
Great job! Context is the social, cultural, historical,
political and other related circumstances or events
that surround the text.
For example, if your teacher asks you to write an
essay about global warming, all the things that
you will right must be associated with it.
Otherwise, you will be out of context. Another
example is someone writing a text regarding the
Corona Virus Disease (COVID 19) and how the
world is doing so far in managing the disease. If
Yes, Ma’am.
the writer mentions the past pandemic such as the
Spanish Flu, it is relevant and still in context
because the previous pandemic has a major
influence to experts today in containing the virus.
Other examples:
1.Studies have revealed that drinking a glass of
water 30 minutes before taking meals helps you
digestion.
1.Science and Health
2. Manny Pacquiao is the only boxer that has won 2.Sports
eight division fights.
Do you understand?
Yes, ma’am!
Do you have any questions regarding context?
None, ma’am!
If none, then let us try this one.
Identify the given context(s) found in each
situation/occasion.
1.Filipino was introduced as a subject in all grades
at the elementary and high school levels in 194.
2. In 2020, there are over 900,000 regular
personnel that the Department of Education
(DepEd) employs, and more that 800,000 of them
are teachers.
Things to consider in identifying the Deeper
Meaning of Text.
1. The time or the period the text was written.
2. What circumstances produced the text?
3. Issues the text tackles or deals with.
Very good! Now, let us proceed to the two types
of contexts in text development which are intertext
and hypertext.
Intertext- is the shaping of the text’s meaning by
another text. From the word ‘inter’ it means that
there is a connection between the text being read
and another separate text.
Julia Kristeva posed that are relationships
between many kinds of texts adding that there is
actually no unique or original text.
Have you seen Honesto before? Honesto is the
main character in an ABS-CBN teleserye in 2013.
In the story, Honesto is a young boy whose nose

gets big whenever he lies. Does this sound
familiar to you?
Yes, ma’am.
Yes, because the story is inspired by the infamous
tale of Pinocchio- a puppet whose nose gets long
whenever he lies.
Do you understand?
Yes, ma’am
Now, let us proceed to the other type of context of
text development which is hypertext.
Hypertext- came from the prefix “hyper”, which
means beyond or above.
It is a way of representing text about a topic where
other topics can be linked.
(The teacher will show an example)1
EXPLAIN
Now, why should we know the context of the text?
Context is important because it provides
meaning and clarity to the intended message
ELABORATE
What is context again?
What are the two types of text development?
It refers to the situation or occasion that informs
the readers why and how a certain text is
written.
Hypertext and Intertext
What is intertext?
It is the shaping of the text’s meaning by
another text.
What does hypertext do?
It allows readers to choose their way of reading
the text that speaks to them in the most logical
manner individuality.

REMARKS
REFLECTION
Reflect on your teaching and assess yourself as a teacher. Think about your students’ progress this week. What works? What else needs to be done to help the
students learn? Identify what help your instructional supervisors can provide for you so when you meet them, you can ask them relevant question.
A. No. of learners who earned 80% on the
formative assessment
B. No. of learners who require additional activities
for remediation
C. Did the remedial lesson work? No. of learner
who
caught up with the lesson
D. No. of learner who continue to require
remediation
E. Which of my teaching strategies worked
well?
Why did these work?
F. What difficulties did I encounter which my
principal or supervisor can help me solve?
G. What innovation or localized material did I
use/discover.
