Description
National Reading & Book Month Celebration
Culminating Activity is conducted to give awards and
recognition to those who shared their knowledge, time, and
efforts during the month-long celebration with the theme:
“Bawat Bata Bumabasa sa kanila ng Hamon ng Pandemya”.
Coordinators came up with some creative ways of developing
the love for reading among our students amidst health crises
because this is an important avenue to the world of learning.
DepEd Memorandum DM-CI-2021-00466, S. 2021 posted
series of activities to celebrate the National Reading Month.
Some of the activities are the ff.; Reading Camp Activities
initiated by the Reading Advocates/Volunteers from Oleras
National High School feathered barangays, Araw ng
Pagbasa/Synchronized
Reading
Activity,
Home
Visitation/Home Reading, and Contests posted on facebook
such as Best in Book Character Costume, Share a Story,
Reading Family, and Compilation of Home Reading Activities.
Objectives
To promote the love for reading and literacy among our
learners and encourage also our parents, grandparents, and
guardians to read stories to their children to rekindle their
interest in reading
Preliminaries
It was agreed during the planning conference of Reading
Coordinators that the activities to be conducted are in line with
the issued DepEd Memorandum DM-CI-2021-00466, S. 2021
Design and Methodology of
the event
We followed some activities suggested from the
memorandum. We prepared the criteria for each
activity/contest conducted. We have posted the announcement
a week before the start of activities.
Management and
monitoring Strategies
The flow of event was successful because of the cooperation
of the participants. They are all guided because of the posted
announcement/memo of activities. The activities were
facilitated by the Reading Coordinators.
Logistical Arrangement
Week 1 – Planning Conference
Week 2 – Opening & Start of Virtual Contests
Week 3 – Start of Reading Camp Activities
Week 4 – Culminating Activity
RESULTS:
Output/s
80% were able to participate during the activities.
Innovations/Initiatives
 Junior High School and Senior High School students
participated in virtual contests.
 Reading Advocates from feathered barangays initiated a
Reading Camp Activity for Oleras National High School
Students
Participants’ Feedback
It was an amazing experience for the students. Amidst
pandemic they were able to participate in the month-long
celebration.
Issues and Challenge
Some of the participants were not able to post their output on
facebook because they don’t have internet/signal at home.
Interventions Implemented
Reading Coordinators and Reading Advocates Volunteers
were able to motivate those students who were not able to join
in some activities conducted because of the low internet
connection and reading ad

Nationwide Synchronized Story Reading Time at 9 A.M., November 26, 2021 as
stipulated in DepEd Memorandum CI-2021-00466 and Regional Memo 659 s. 2021.
This activity gives importance to the “Araw ng Pagbasa” or “Simultaneous Reading Day”
which promotes the love for reading and literacy among our learners.
