NARRATIVE PICTORIAL REPORT ON READING MONTH
CELEBRATION
S.Y. 2021-2022
“Every reader is an achiever.” This is the quote that should always be in tacked in everyone’s
mind especially the young ones. When a child can read, there’s no reason for him not to learn not only in
school but also in every place he goes. Better learning can be acquired through reading. However, some of
our learners today can hardly read even a single word. The cause is unclear, but the solution is brightly
shining. And that is, helping and guiding them with initiative. That is why Calantas Elementary School
supports this year’s reading month celebration with the theme “Bawat Bata Bumabasa sa Kabila ng
Hamon ng Pandemya”.
The month-long celebration of the Pambansang Buwan at Araw ng Pagbasa was
started with a virtual kick-off on November 08, 2021 which was joined by the teaching and
non-teaching staff of CES.
All the pupils were provided different
activities to develop more on reading. This is
not only for struggling readers but also for
independent ones. To name a few, the school
implemented the D-E-A-R (Drop Everything
and Read) Program wherein all the learners
read their favorite stories at home every 12:30
– 1:00 o’clock in the afternoon to awaken their
awareness of the importance of reading.
On November 17, 2021, the activity called “Dugtungang
Pagbasa” was held for the primary learners to develop more their skills
and at the same time had fun while reading. This was done through a
continuous narration of story by different pupils from grades level 1-3.
Another activity called “Reading Family” was also implemented by Calantas ES not
only to nurture love for reading but most specially to tighten family ties. Every Wednesday of
the Month of November, families who took time to read together were chosen and given
appreciation by the school.
Reading was really a wondrous habit. A magical
past time that could calm and entertain young mind and
heart. This was proven through the activity named
“Reading is Caring.” Intermediate pupils were tasked to
share a story to their siblings/cousins and were
challenged to send pictures if they caught the attention of
the youngs and made them listen. It was done on
November 24, 2021.
On November 26, 2021 or the Araw ng Pagbasa, learners, teachers and non-teaching
personnel joined the nationwide synchronized reading activity. All
have participated through reading a story at 9’oclock in the morning
which lasted for 15 minutes. It was a great time for everybody to
show off their love for reading and most specially their support on
the program.
All the implemented activities for the learners were twinned by passion and dedication
of the school head, teachers and parents/guardians to ensure the development, enjoyment, and
appreciation of every learner to become an independent reader and globally competitive
individual.
