DISASTER RISK REDUCTION ORIENTATION
PREPAREDNESS MEASURES FOR THE
RAINY SEASON
Republic Act 10121
1.An act strengthening the Philippine disaster
risk reduction and management system in the
country or known as “Philippine Disaster Risk
Reduction and Management Act of 2010
DepEd Order No. 37 s. 2015
. Known as Comprehensive Disaster Risk Reduction
and Management (DRRM) in Basic education
Framework
2. This framework institutionalize the DRRM
Structures, system, protocols and practices in
DepEd Offices and Schools.

OBJECTIVE:
To promote preparedness and
safety among our school children
and personnel on the rainy season
What to do?
1. Prepare a Contingency Plan for tropical
cyclone, storm surge, and flood.
2. Establish a hazard- specific EWS and
post in classrooms and conspicuous
place.
What to do?
3. Secure database of students and their
family details
4. Craft and disseminate a student –
Family Reunification Plan
What to do?
5.Plan for resumption strategies
Ex:
Alternative delivery modes
Availabity of learning resources
What to do?
6. Pre –identify possible sites for
Temporary Learning Spaces(TLS)
7. Post emergency hotlines in classrooms
and conspicuous places within the
school
What to do?
8. Forge a MOA, MOU with the, if the school
is to be used as an EC
9. Prepare an evacuation plan and identify
evacuation areas and classrooms that can
be used as temporary shelters during
emergencies in accordance with RA 10821
What to do?
10. Coordinate with the LGU on the
location of evacuation centers outside
the school, and other safe areas where
learners and families can go to in case of
storm surge warning inform the learners
and their parents

11. Monitor Tropical Cyclone Warning
Signal(TCWS), storm surge warning,
rainfall warning from DOST- Pag-ASA
12. Coordinate with local DRRM Councils
for suspension of classes.

13. Orient students, parents and teachers
on the rules suspension of classes (DO
43, 2012 and EO 66s. 2012 and DO.37
s.2022)
14. Secure disaster kit at home (parents,
teachers and learners)
What to do?
15. Clean and clear all drainage system to
prevent them from clogging. Cover open
drainage canals with proper warning
signs.
16. Prune trees that may cause harm to
people and properties
What to do?
17. Switch off electricity before locking
the school buildings.
18. Store all vital school records,
documents, learning and teaching
materials, computers and equipment in
safe building and storage.
