Zip-lock plastic bag
1 cut-off leg of tights/stockings
1 plastic cup as a funnel
1 plastic cup as a plunger
Gloves
Scissors
A tray or large bowl
1 paper cup with a hole
Procedures
This lab is designed for students to work in groups and explore the structure and
functions of the digestive system. Here's how you can conduct the lab:
Place a tray on each desk with all the materials and ask students to transfer them to
the table.
Present a brief video or a labeled diagram of the digestive system for students to
review before tackling the pre-lab questions.
Students will collaborate in groups to match materials to the labeled parts of the
digestive system.
Once the lab sheet is completed, encourage students to plan the experiment within
their groups.
Following the discussion, they can start the lab activity.
