The emergence of the COVID19 pandemic triggered an unprecedented global crisis, significantly disrupting economies, societies and healthcare systems worldwide. Pakistan, like many nations, has been profoundly affected by the multifaceted challanges posed by the pandemic. The imposition of stringent measures has resulted in a series of socio-economic repercussions with in the country. Firstly, the closure of borders and travel restrictions have disrupted global trade and supply chains. Many businesses have been forced to close or operate at reduced capacity,which led to a loss of jobs and decreased consumer spending. As for the Tourism Industry, the closure of borders and cancellation of flights led to a decline in international tourist arrivals, causing losses for hotels, restaurants and other tourism dependent businesses. The economic downturn, along with the loss of jobs and salary cuts, resulted in a decline in remittance inflows, further straining the economy of the country. Whilst everything faced a grave impact in the country, the healthcare system also received its share. The pandemic put an immense pressure on the healthcare system of the country, which unfortunately already faced challenges in terms of resources and capacity. While taking care of the usual patients , now the doctors had to take care of the plenty patients suffering from COVID in the limited resources they had , further raising the challenges faced by the doctors and the citizens .Beyond the healthcare systems and economic reprecussions,the pandemic took a toll on the mental health of the citizens of Pakistan. Social isolation, fear of infection ,and the loss of loved ones were one of the few mental strains that the citizens of Pakistan had to face. Overall, the COVID 19 pandemic has had profound socio-economic consequences in Pakistan, amplifying existing challenges and underscoring the need for long term reforms to enhance and strengthen these important systems of Pakistan.
