SWOT Analysis Strengths: 1) Provision of employee assistance programs (EAPs). Numerous companies have organized employee assistance programs (EAPs) in order to assist the employees regarding to the possible sources of stressors. 2) Preemptive action about workplace violence. The U.S. Department of Labor has indicated that incidents regarding workplace violence have decreased over the past few years because of the employees’ attention to the potential problems and their preventive measures. Weaknesses: 1) Lack of data. No information or studies exist that proves the connection between the workplace violence and economic downturns. Due to this, it is more difficult to identify what specific problem and solutions there may be to fully understand the situation. Moreover, the problems arising will be more complicated due to limited evidences of connection. 2) Lack of company’s direct solution. Regarding the said situation, the company is held accountable for what happened. The employee, Jason Rodriguez, who caused the problem is exposed to the company’s environment where may possibly have originated the stressors. The emergence of several stressors exposing to the employees must be solved by the company. The company must generate solutions to help their employees’ overall well-being and to provide assistance to them. 3) Financial problems as the main issue. Particularly, the article stated that the financial problems were said to replace the emotional problems as the primary are of concern of the employees. The total unemployment also continuously rises which causes the elevation of stress. In addition, employees seem to stress over pressure about deadlines, and bosses who are demanding. Opportunities: 1) Conduct studies and research regarding workplace stress and workplace violence. To further understand the cause of workplace violence, researchers can study more about workplace stress and workplace violence to constantly learn about the issue and to mitigate immediate response. This will also help identify the detrimental effects of stress to the employees. 2) Detect the determinants of stress. Through developing a performance management process, signs of stressors or sources of stress can be determined. This will help identify the specific issue being encountered by an employee, and to reduce the aggravation of the situation. Threats: 1) Potential rise of stressors. Other stressors may be recognized and may further affect the employees’ overall wellness.
