Q1) A 𝟕𝟓Ω co-axial line has a current 𝒊(𝒕,𝒛) = 𝟏. 𝟖 𝐜𝐨𝐬(𝟑. 𝟕𝟕 ∗ 𝟏𝟎𝟗 𝒕 − 𝟏𝟖. 𝟏𝟑𝒛) 𝒎𝑨.
Determine: i) The frequency.
ii) The phase velocity.
iii) The wavelength.
iv) The phasor form of current.
v) The time domain voltage on the line.
Q2) A transmission line has the following per-unit-length parameters:
𝑳 = 𝟎. 𝟓𝝁𝑯/𝒎, 𝑪 = 𝟐𝟎𝟎𝒑𝑭/𝒎, 𝑹 = 𝟒. 𝟎Ω/𝒎, 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝑮 = 𝟎. 𝟎𝟐𝑺/𝒎.
Calculate the propagation constant and characteristic impedance of this
line at 800MHz and length= 30 cm. Recalculate these quantities in the
absence of loss(R=G=0).
Q3) Prove that the 𝜸 = ((𝑹 + 𝒋ω𝑳)(𝑮 + 𝒋ω𝑪))𝟎.𝟓 from the transmission
line parameters R, L, G, and C.
Q4) A load impedance of -5+j25 terminates a 50Ω lossless transmission
line that is 0.1λ long. Find the reflection coefficient at the load, the
reflection coefficient at the input to the line, the input impedance and the
SWR on the line.
