Effects of global warming in the past 10 years Global warming is a catastrophic phenomenon that has been going on for years now. Global warming basically means the rise in global temperature. This happens when people conduct exothermic activities. The result of global warming has been more adverse than ever in the recent years. Paradoxically global warming has left appalling effects on the planet. The most apparent effect is the melting of glaciers and ice caps. Many of such ice bodies have melted in the recent years due to a rise in the temperature. This has caused an increase in sea levels. Therefore, we can deduce that it might also put many species like polar bears on the verge of extinction. As the glaciers melt, the sea levels rise. The rise in sea level is a harbinger of menace for the coastal areas. There are chances that the coastal areas might even sink into the water if global warming continues contributing to the rise in sea levels. Another aspect of global warming is the sudden change of weather. Places with usual hot weather are leaning towards mildness of heat and intensity of coolness during summer and vice versa in the winter. Not only does this change affect the people of such regions but it also affects the food production of the certain area. As a result, a potential food shortage might be caused for the region which gradually invites poverty. In a nutshell, global warming will be an interminable menace to the humanity as long as human beings keep ignoring the egregious effects and adding to it.
