Both “nuclear energy” and “fracking” are issues in which people
have strong opinions either for or against. You already know a few
things about their advantages and disadvantages, but there is
much more to learn. Choose one of these two topics in which you
are most interested. Your teacher will assign whether you are “for”
or “against” that topic. Like a lawyer sometimes you have to
defend the opposite side of the case from what you believe. Turn
in a written proposal of your opinion based on your research, and
be prepared to debate your side against others defending it.
If you find another issue related to fossil fuels you would rather
research, discuss that with your teacher. As you have learned, all
nonrenewable energy resources have advantages and
disadvantages.
