I am from South Florida, a town called Miramar, and I am pursing a B.S. in Kinesiology, which if I may add is not too dissimilar from Sport and Exercise Science. Part of my coursework has included learning basic first aid and CPR, as well as learning about the human body and its functions, limitations, and pathologies. One of the best experiences I have had was working in my school’s Live Sound Technical program. In the program, we oversaw running audio equipment for live shows around my high school: plays, talent shows, concerts, and marching band events to name a few. For the latter, I was even made captain of my own crew. Due to my time within the program, I have learned skills like problem solving, team management, time management, planning, and relationship building with my fellow technicians. I believe this can make me an asset to the role of member services attendant in that working with people is something that I have become well accustomed to, whether that be in understanding their needs or responding to whatever situations may be reported to us at the front desk. I was never the most active kid growing up, but after years of dormancy I had decided to take my fitness and health more seriously within the past few years. It was very overwhelming at first; on top of that, gym memberships where I am from were quite steep, to say the least. As such, I have great admiration for the purpose of the RWC: making fitness more accessible to the students of UCF. While for many there are a lot of obstacles that keep them from pursuing a healthy and active lifestyle, being a part of a team where the goal is to remove as many of those obstacles as possible is something that I find not only appealing, but also deeply inspiring.
