Fire Water Demand As the fire system used over the building is a combined system, so, the building is protected by both automatic sprinklers and fire cabinet. And as per the NFPA13 fire code the minimum water flow needed for (Light Hazard Building) is 500 GPM, Flow rate needed for sprinklers with an operation area of 1500 FT2 = 225 GPM And the Flow rate needed for one cabinet running with the sprinklers = 250 GPM Hence, Total GPM needed = 475 GPM ≂ 500 GPM to be found at local Catalogues. Firewater demand = 283.9 Cubic meter. Conclusion ‐ The required Fire water tank volume is 283.9 cubic meter with two compartments.
