Discussion Board #1 Brittany McLennan Three benefits of inclusive education are: Help children have more respect for others. Children will have the opportunity to learn about other peoples differences no matter what they may be. This will help children learn that being different is normal. It may also help children find similarities with other children. All children feel included. Inclusive education can help children with difference to be a part of the group. They will be included in social activities and other events even outside of a school setting. Better communication and academic achievements. Children both with difference and without will be able to watch and see what each child does. The children who may be behind in their communication will be able to learn from their peers. This also goes for academics. Three challenges of inclusive education are: Large class sizes. This can be a challenge because when there is a larger class size the children that have differences or may be struggling can be left behind. This is because the class is too large for an educator to help everyone to their full potential. Lack of educator training. This can be a challenge because educators may not know how to deal with a situation. They may not know how to help a child learn who learns differently. Peer rejection. Sometimes children can bully other children with differences. I find that when this happens other children tend to join in with the group. This can cause the opposite of what an inclusive education is all about and can be very difficult to overcome.
