Omnivores/Omnivorous Animals
Omnivores are animals which eat both plants and meat. Unlike
herbivores, whose diet consists only of plants, or carnivores, who
only consume meat, omnivores eat both.
Examples of Omnivores:
Apart from the ones already shown, there are countless other omnivores.
Dog
Squirrel
Pig
Hedgehog
Fun Facts about Omnivores:
• Humans are considered omnivores.
• Omnivores eat meat from both herbivores and carnivores, and even other omnivores.
• Some species, like geese, eat mainly insects at one point in their life and then mainly plants at
another point in their life. So even though they don’t tend to mix the two, they are considered
omnivores, as they eat both meat and plants across their entire life.
• Omnivores are well-adapted to live in many different conditions, such as places with changing
seasons. This is because wherever they live, they can normally find a type of food that they like!
