What Is Tidal Energy?
 Tidal Energy is a form of hydro-power that exploits the
movement of water-waves caused by the rise and fall in
the sea level due to tides(waves)
Categories Of Tidal Power
 Tidal Flow: Make use of Kinetic energy from moving water
current to power turbines
 Tidal Barrage Power: Make use of Potential Energy from
the difference In height(or head) between high and low
tides.
Advantages Of Tidal Power
 Tidal energy has high reliability, excellent energy density,
and high durability.
 Because the Earth's tides are ultimately due to
gravitational interaction with the Moon and Sun and the
Earth's rotation, Tidal power is inexhaustible.
Disadvantages Of The Tidal Power
 Placing turbines in tidal streams is complex, because the
machines are large and disrupt the tide they are trying to
harness.
 The environmental impact could be severe, depending on
the size of the turbine and the site of the tidal stream.
Is Tidal Energy Good FoR Pakistan?
 Tidal power is 80% more efficient compared to coal and oil.
 Harnessing the power of high-energy waves, the shoreline
will be protected from sediment erosion.
 More energy can be produced from tides along the coast of
Pakistan.
 Tides are renewable and active 24/7, 365 days which is
very good for Pakistan.
Advantages For Pakistan
 The country can control its energy crisis by
generating fuel-free and low-cost Tidal power.
 Pakistan has a 1,045-kilometre coastline, which is ideal for
producing tidal energy due to its favorable characteristics.
 Ocean tidal resources are denser and more reliable than
others for generating power at a low cost.
DisadvanTages For Pakistan
 It is expensive for Pakistan.
 The turbines can impact the surrounding ecosystem.
 The power produced does not always match up with peak
energy demand.
Conclusion
 Tidal Energy can be focused as an alternate energy source
of Pakistan.
 It’s environmental impacts of Tidal process is much more
smaler than using conventional fuels such as fossil fuels
and nuclear plants.
 Though Tidal Power cannot alone fulfill complete demand,
however can be helpful to overcome the problem of
shortage.
