Client requested MPI inspection and visual Inspection be carried out on repaired welds.
Remarks.
MPI Results-Not Acceptable in accordance with the relevant standards - MPI Report No. MT001
Visual Inspection-Note remarks below.
1. Arc strikes noted on adjacent welded joints- not acceptable 8.5.2(a) API 650 Ed.2020
2. Undercut exceeds maximum permissible 0.4mm depth 8.5.2(b) API 650 Ed.2020
3 Frequency of surface porosity in the weld exceeds one cluster (one or more pores) in any 100 mm 8.5.2(c)

4. Reinforcement of the welds on all butt joints on each side of the plate exceeds the specified thicknesses

5. Excessive distortion noted on shell plates close to weld repairs, due to incorrect repair procedure.
6. Poor repair welds i.e. irregular peaks and troughs noted, resulting in poor fusion.
7. Out of roundness.
Recommendations.
1. Remove all defective welds and shell plate.
2. Roll and prep. new plates to eliminate out of roundness.
3. Use qualified repair procedure.
4.Use correct welding consumables.
4. Use certified welder.
