b. i) These are other possible species that can be
brought back from extinction.
ii) This means it could be a possibility or they
are working on the dream and attempting to
bring it to life.
c) Scientists believe mammoths may have a big
role to play in slowing or reversing effects
caused by climate change. And it would be
revolutionary if they managed to bring back
mammoths who have been extinct for 4000
years.
d.i) Scientists would need the frozen remains of
a mammoth, and they will morph the DNA with
that of an Asian elephant.
ii) Asian elephants and mammoths share similar
DNA and they are closely related so they would
be able to reproduce successfully. Asian
elephants are also in danger of extinction so this
scheme could safe the species.
1e) People disagree to the projects because they
believe scientists should focus on saving the
animals we have now from possible extinction,
and also they believe it could all be for publicity,
no genuine, and the benefits claimed may be
false.
f) There had only been a handful of mammoths
found. The mammoths were even discovered by
accident, yet they are perfect. The gentlemen
who discovered her had zero intent of selling or
disturbing the mammoth’s remains. Scientists
were then able to successfully retrieve her and
not cause any issues. She had been frozen for
many years. After the discovery scientists now
understand the species in greater depth, they
figured out how she dies and they grasped an
idea of what life during the ice age was like.
They also managed to get a piece of her DNA for
further research.

d) “But its shape was too organic”
The writer wants to portray that the shape
ahead of him too raw looking, it didn’t look pure.
“Swaying”
This illustrates the way in which the elephant
was “jay-walking” the street.
“The thing let in sucked in air and then let out a
deep groan.”
This tells us that the animal was breathing
heavily as if it were distressed.
“Bouldered head”
Describes the stone like shape of the elephants
head, even the size may figuratively be
compared to a boulder.
“It seemed to take up the whole street”
This gives the impression that the elephant was
enormous.
“Dragged its curled trunk like a fist along the
ground”
Shows that the elephant may have been sulking
or it has no energy to lift its trunk so it is not
dragging on the ground.
