SCIENCE ESSAY ON WHAT DID WE LEARN ON HAPLOIDS AND DIPLOIDS AND HOW DO WE FEEL
ABOUT THE TOPIC
Today in science class we learnt about the sexual and asexual reproduction. Asexual reproduction is
the process resulting in the production of a genetically identical offspring. This means that plants
and creatures that reproduce asexually does not need a mate. This was a shock to me because I
never knew that some animals and living organasims can have a product (or child) without
reproducing the sexual way. While learning about the Asexual reproduction I learnt that most
reptiles such and pythons, boa constrictors and kommodo dragons do not need a mate to produce a
child. Although this may seem like a good thing asexual reproduction also comes with its
disadvantages on how reproducing asexually can have its problems. One major example of the
disadavantages of asexual reproduction is if there was a bad gene to be made by the mother it will
cause all of the babies to get that gene and cause a defect and that will eventually lead to the end of
the colony they have made or even ruin the generational line. We also leanred the difference
between Haploid and Diploid nuclei. The significance of the haploid and diploid nuclei to the body is
the number of chromosomes it has. The difference of the haploid and diploid is the haploid has a
sigle set of chromosomes
And that’s all I can recall from the class today
