QUESTION 1:
A simply-supported beam spanning 8 m has central point dead and imposed loads of 200 kN and
ASSIGNMENT 1
100 kN respectively. Assuming the beam is fully laterally restrained select and check suitable UB
sections in (a) S275 and (b) S460 steel.
QUESTION 2:
For the fully laterally restrained beam shown in below select and check a suitable UB section in
grade S275 steel to satisfy shear, bending and deflection criteria.
