Operation and Logistics Plan
Great ideas remain beautiful hypotheticals if there isn’t a way to implement them.
Think of the idea as the inspiration, and the organization of that idea as the work required
to actualize it.
But that work isn’t a one-time activity, of course: it’s a process that flows from one task to
the next.
KEY: There are many points along that journey (process), from the idea to the execution to
the customer.
Managing that work process is called Operations and Logistics Management.

Operation and Logistics Plan
What are the three major aspects of strategic logistics planning?
Long-term goals: Long-term goals include customer satisfaction, your company’s
competitive advantage and supply chain management.
Means: The means for achieving your long-term goals include delivering value and customer
service.
Process (IMPLEMENTATION): The process for achieving your company’s long-term goals
includes how you’ll execute your logistics strategy, as well as anticipating and managing
change and relating each element of your logistics strategy to the company’s overarching
business objectives.

Operation and Logistics Plan
An Operations Plan pushes you to think about tactics and deadlines.
A tactic is an action or strategy carefully planned to achieve a specific goal.
Businesses may refer to operation planning as production planning, which employs many of
the same techniques.
However, production planning only focuses on the actual production, while operation
planning looks at the operation as a whole (from suppliers to end users)

Operation and Logistics Plan
Operations and Logistics planning is concerned about: the efficient flow and storage of products from
their point of origin to the point of consumption.
It is a detailed process of organizing and implementing an operation.
When it comes to business, that process is the flow of work from the beginning to the end, in order to
fulfil customer expectations as well as those of your organization.
The flow of the business’s daily activities and strategies that will support them.
For example all details related to Supply and Delivery (How the goods or service will get
from A to B).
THIS YOU NEED TO WORK ON FOR YOUR BUSINESS PROJECT (HOW?)

Operation and Logistics Plan
First and Foremost
Aligning your logistics goals to broader business objectives is a crucial component of an effective
logistics strategy.
A strategic logistics plan typically covers five or more years.
It includes the following:
An overview of the logistics strategy in general terms and how it relates to other business functions.
Logistics objectives and how each relates to cost and service for the product and the customer.
Descriptions of each strategy that will support the overall strategic logistics plan. These strategies
should include inventory and warehousing, order processing and fulfilment, transportation and
customer service.

Operation and Logistics Plan
A logistics team (Organizational structure) typically works to:
-
monitor the interactions within the system and maintain solid relationships with
suppliers
obtain/acquire (acquisition logistics) the materials needed to produce goods at a
reasonable price
organize the storage of products prior to sale (manage inventory levels)
ensure that the finished products meet quality control specifications (Integrated
logistics)
Ensure that the finished products ship as contracted.
OVERALL REMEMBER!…..The primary objective of any logistics strategy is to deliver the right products
to the right customers at the right time and at the least possible cost.

A company may employ a variety of operation planning methods to record, monitor, and
evaluate the process.
Basic operation planning may involve the use of a spreadsheet.
More complex operation planning may involve a detailed analysis of the costs associated
