1-What is thermal energy?

Thermal energy is the energy that comes from the
temperature of matter. The hotter the substance, the
more is the vibration of molecules and hence the
higher is the thermal energy.
2-Component

1- Evaporator

2- Condencer

3- Turbine

Advantages of OTEC system

1.This plant can supply steady power without any fluctuation.

2. This plant needs very less no of equipment.

3. The plant can be constructed on the shoreline or on floating platform.

4. The plant of any size and capacity can be constructed at a suitable site.

5. Clean source of energy.
Disadvantages of OTEC system

1- Low efficiency

2- High installation cost

3- Maintenance hazards
