Detailed Lesson Plan in Science IV I. Objectives At the end of the lesson pupils should able to: a) identify the organs of the digestive system; b) give the function of each part of the digestive system; and c) appreciate the importance of the digestive system in our body. II. Subject Matter Topic: The Digestive System Reference: Breakthrough Science VI, Pgs. 86-92 Code: S6LT-IIa-b-1 Materials: Visual aid, Picture III. Procedure Teacher’s Activity A. Preliminary Activity Student’s Activity 1. Prayer Okay class please all stand for the prayer. Student’s praying. 2. Greetings Good morning class! How are you this morning? Good morning, ma’am! We’re good ma’am. That’s great! 3. Energizer But before you seat down, we will have first some energizer, are you ready class? Yes ma’am. Wow very energetic! So, before you seat down kindly pick up some pieces of paper under your chairs. Please seat down. 4. Attendance Okay class let’s check your attendance, say present if your name is called. Student’s say “present” as their name is called. 5. Setting of Standard So, class when I am here talking what are you going to do? in front of you Listen ma’am. Yes, very good! What else? Raise hand if we want to answer and don’t talk and play with our classmates. Very good can I expect that from you? Yes ma’am B. Review Who among you here remember our topic yesterday? Me ma’am Our topic yesterday was all about The Layer of the skin? Yes, very good! Okay what are The Layer of the skin? EPERDIMIS DERMIS SUBCUTANEOUS LAYER Very good! C. Motivation First, let us play the jigsaw puzzle. The first thing you should do before starting any jigsaw is separate the pieces (actually, you should take it out of the box...) start this by separating the edges from the middle pieces Then you have to complete the missing pieces until you create a picture about the digestive system. Are you all excited? Yes ma’am Does your work correct? Good observation! Yes ma’am D. Presentation/ Discussion Before we start our discussion, I have here a video about Digestive System of the body, let me show you the video. Are you ready? Yes Ma’am! So, first things first, why do you think Digestive System is important? . All the systems in the body need energy to work. They get this energy from food. It is important that the body gets all the nutrients Very good! it needs to function well. The body cannot use food in the form in which it enters the liquid form. Then it must be chemically changed to enter the blood. Digestion is the process that breakdown food into simpler form that the body can use. The organs of the digestive system work together to accomplish this process E. Application Class I will group you into 2 groups Boys and Girls. I will give you the diagram and label the parts correctly. I Will give you 1 minute to answer. F. Generalization Okay class again what are The Layer of the skin? Very good! IV. Evaluation Read the following statements carefully. Write TRUE if the statement is correct and FALSE if the statement is wrong and write the correct answer in a ½ sheet of paper. ____1. Too much exposure to the ultraviolet rays of the sun is good for the skin. _____2. The fingernails must be properly trimmed to prevent the accumulation of dirt and other unwanted substances. ______3. In keeping our skin, nails and hair healthy, we must avoid using products with strong chemicals. _____4. Consulting the dermatologist regularly is highly encouraged to maintain good health of your integumentary system. _____5. Integumentary system is considered as one of the first lines of defense of our body against pathogens. V. Assignment EPERDIMIS DERMIS SUBCUTANEOUS LAYER… Answer the following questions: Directions: Study each question carefully and explain your answer briefly. Write your answer in your Science Journal. 1. Describe the parts of the integumentary system. ________________________________________________ __________________________ ________________________________________________ __________________________ 2. Explain how the parts of integumentary system work together. ________________________________________________ __________________________ ________________________________________________ __________________________ 3. Why is the skin considered as the first line of defense of our body against microorganisms? _____________________________________ . Prepared by: JONNA P.
