RESEARCH PAPER PART 1 SECTION A: Research Question: How does cannabis use affect sleep in people positively or negatively? I chose to research whether cannabis use affects sleep in people in a positive or negative way. I am an avid user of cannabis and would like to find out more information on what is taking place inside my body when I consume it for sleep. I use cannabis daily to help with my struggle to fall asleep and it works well although there must be side effects and certain unseen factors being affected by this habit. This relates to the course content as we have spoken about the health implications of consuming cannabis as well as the effects it can have on the brain. SECTION B: Keywords: cannabis, sleep, brain, rest, health, mental, physical, medical, cannabinoids SECTION C: To obtain authentic academic journals for this research paper, I used the PROQUEST from the research and journals database of the University of Waterloo. While I was searching for articles on this topic, I came across some roadblocks regarding the relevancy of the content of the articles to my research question. This led me to alter my original question from “How does cannabis use affect sleep and brain activity in youth?” to a broader question that allowed me to find more relevant articles that I can now use for further research. I created a brainstorm for keywords to use in the advanced search function in PROQUEST and they brought up thousands of useful articles. Luckily their titles were informative resulting in my search being relatively quick all the while finding meaningful and useful articles for my research and development of my question. I was also lucky to find that most of the articles I was interested in had access to the full text pdf’s so there were no further issues in that aspect. SECTION D: Bonavitacola, J. (2022).
