Joe Goldberg case study
Growing up, Joe had a hard childhood. He had an unstable family. His father would abuse both
him and his mother. Due to the hurt and pain, Joe's mother would leave him in public to get with
men. Joe’s mom would always end up leaving his father from the abuse, but end up right back up
with him. The abuse continued toward Joe, his father put cigarettes on him so he would expose
his mothers affair. Joe never told on his mom because a part of him cared for her.
One night Joe took it upon himself to kill his father for beating on his mother. That's
when his mom told him he is a good boy for killing trying to protect the one that he loves. Joe
then was tuned into social service because his mom thought it would be best for him.He then is
picked up by Mr.Mooney who is a bookstore owner.he took care of Joe and would abuse him to
teach him lessons he needed to know. He would get locked inside of a glass cage at the bookstore
until he showed the lesson was learned.
As Joe Goldberg became older he worked at Mr. Mooney’s bookstore. One day a girl
who writes poems named Beck comes into the store. Joe is head over heel for her. He shows his
love for her by stalking her in countless ways to find out as much as he can, so he can become
close to her.
When Joe meets Beck, he tries to cancel out all factors that could get in the way of his
relationship with beck.Joe goes as far as to finding out her personal information, for example her
address, people she hangout with, past relationships, and social media. When Joe first meets
Beck he steals her phone and sees all her messages. He defends his action by saying he wants to
make sure that she is the one and isn’t going to hurt him. While Joe is talking and stalking Beck
he ends up killing her ex-boyfriend Benji because he posed a threat to their relationship. He then
kills her best friend Peach because she doesn’t feel a good vibe from Joe. Joe feels the need to
kill those who aren’t worthy of beck's time and who could interfere with what they have going
on.
After Beck loses her best friend she becomes depressed and starts talking to a therapist.
Joe becomes convinced that Beck is cheating on him with her therapist. Later, Joe finds out she
was and kills beck because she found out what he had done and said she never loved him. Joe
then moves to Los Angeles, to avoid any problems that may occur due to the disappearance of
Beck.
Joe when he commits crimes he doesn’t show any sorrow because he thinks what he has
done is a form of love. This can be shown that he has antisocial personality disorder because he
is, “irresponsible, or criminal behavior, often impulsive or aggressive, with disregard for any
harm or distress caused to other people, and an inability to maintain long-term social and
personal relationships”(Oxford languages).
For around 19 years Joe has experienced this disorder as a young child until an adult. He
wasn’t honest with beck. He felt what he was doing was right. Everything he did, he believed ,
showed love. He stalks, kills, and tresspaases thise he is involved with.

Joe Goldberg studies and observes people, even those who catch his attention. Joe knows
a person by just what they wear, how they talk, and even how they look. Joe is brilliant and
knowledgeable. He is the type to manipulate others very easily and can talk his way out of
anything. Joe seems like a normal guy that is nerdy and just fits into the crowd like nothing
special.
Joe is a hopeless romantic but also has a bad temper. If he does not get his way, he will
find one way or another. He is a great liar but has way too many trust issues when it comes to
relationships. Once Joe really likes someone, he won't stop thinking about them, stalking them
(as in where they live), inserting himself in their lives, and lying to them. Joe would do things for
someone to please them even when they do not ask for anything. Therefore, from these
