Purpose Of Website The purpose of my portfolio website is to showcase my work and my knowledge through a comprehensive website. The content that will be displayed will include my previous work and experience, both class works and internships, and some personal projects that I did myself. Moreover, having a personal website is a good way to build my personal brand in my wanted direction and give potential employers/ partnerships to have a more curated outlook on my identity. It’s also a convenient method to network with peers or clients because just through a click and a few scrolls, one can have an understanding about who I am professionally and what I offer. Development Plan The project will be divided into 3 phases, with the first 3 weeks being the preparation stage when I will be identifying objectives, curating content for the website and developing a clear outlook on what I want to include in my website. The following 6 weeks will be when I actually build the website. This is when all the coding, designing and implementation are being made. This is the most important phase because it’s when the website come to life so it will take the most time. Decisions about load time, smoothness of flow and website’s appeal will be made in this stage. The last phase is the stage where everything will be tested and finalized, focusing on website’s functionality. Gantt chart Survey analysis The questions that were asked in my survey focus mainly on finding out what aspects do potential hiring employers value most and are important to them while assessing a portfolio website. According to my survey, the three aspects that employers value most are visual appeal, smooth flow and quality of content. Therefore, these are the three aspects that I will focus on most while building my websites. I also asked about the 2 deal breakers of a portfolio website, in which the answers indicate that they are low quality content and lack of interactivity. The 1 common answer of these 2 questions is low quality, which means that this is an important aspect to employers. When asked about the importance of multimedia elements in a portfolio website, most of them answered “they are important but not crucial”, which means that if I decide to add multimedia elements to my website, they have to be effective and add value to my website, or else it would be unnecessary. Therefore, I will have to be more considerate when making decisions on adding multimedia elements. Another point that was made from the survey is that if a website portfolio is included in a resume, they will most likely be looked through and assessed, therefore this is an important factor that adds to a candidate’s success rate of being hired.
