DISASTER PREPAREDNESS DEMO-TRAININGS: FIRE DRILL AND EARTHQUAKE DRILL (REACTION PAPER) Disaster preparedness refers to measures taken to prepare for and reduce the effects of disasters. That is, to predict and, where possible, prevent disasters, mitigate their impact on vulnerable populations, and respond to and effectively cope with their consequences. Disaster preparedness is a continuous and integrated process resulting from a wide range of risk reduction activities and resources rather than from a distinct sectorial activity by itself. Last November 23, 2019 I attended the seminar about Disaster Preparedness DemoTrainings Fire Drill and Earthquake Drill, it was held at Isabela State University. Attending seminar like this is very important for us to know what we should do or what should we prepare before the disaster happens. Disaster preparedness is very important for us because everyone needs to learn how to be prepared before the disaster happens not just for themselves and also to help others. They also discussed about the fire drill, it is important for us to know or learn what to do if there is a fire incident. The purpose of this fire drills is to ensure the safety of every individuals if there is fire. And also, Earthquake drill, it is good that the DRRM instructors helps us to learn how to react immediately. Earthquake drill is very important for us to be able to be prepared if there will be an earthquake incidents. They also discussed about the Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation or the CPR. CPR is an emergency life-saving procedure done when an individual’s breathing or heartbeat suddenly stops. It is very important to know what are the procedures to perform. By simply knowing or realizing the importance of CPR is the first step in helping our community. It is important for us to be ready at all times. This seminar certainly served as an eye-opener for me after the event. I did not only become aware of what to do before, during and after the disaster. This seminar also taught me how to be ready all the time and always have the knowledge about the disaster preparedness that are discussed.
