steadily increasing census, and
with a total of 33,101 patients,
services includes; pedia, internal
medicine,
OB-GYN,
General
Surgery, Ophtha, ENT, Dental, Ortho,
Neuro Surgery, TB- DOTS, Rehab,
Diagnostics, and RT-PCR.

Procedures
A.Patient Appointment and Consultation
•The PCCH-Outpatient Department’s operating hours is from 8 am to 5 pm
Monday to Friday with designated schedule for symptomatic cases and
follow up consultation.
•Services include: medical consultation for specialty and subspecialty
cases , diagnostic test (laboratory, Covid-19 RT- PCR, Imaging, EEG, ECG),
Dental Clinic, and TB DOTS.

A.Patient Appointment and Consultation
•The OPD is located at the Ground Floor, with extension in the 3rd floor for
specialty and diagnostic services including Ophtha, ENT, Dental consult,
EEG and ECG procedures.
•A designated swabbing and phlebotomy area is provided for patients.

A.Patient Appointment and Consultation
•The PCCH-Outpatient department target patients are the following:
a. Old and New Adult and Pediatric patients
b. Adult and Pediatric patients discharged from the Covid Facility
•The PCCH-Outpatient Department will follow a strict appointment basis
for face to face consultation through a designated telephone number.
Walk in patients are not encouraged.

A.Patient Appointment and Consultation
•The PCCH-Outpatient Department’s designated telephone number
(8)6432222 local 107 will be utilized for the purpose of:
a. Setting up an appointment schedule for patients (both for new and
discharged patients)
b. Screening and triaging patients prior to hospital entry and actual
patient
visit.
The OPD telephone number is strictly for setting up an OPD appointment
and not to be used for patient’s medical management.

A.Patient Appointment and Consultation
•Patients deemed with moderate to severe symptoms, clinically unstable
will be advised urgent ER consult.
•Follow up patients from the ward are advised to call the OPD a day prior to
their scheduled date of follow up and are requested to bring discharge
instructions forms, results of latest RT-PCR test and Symptom Monitoring
Sheet on the day of follow up consultation
•Guardian of newborn patients are also required to bring the results of RTPCR test of both mother and newborn.

A.Patient Appointment and Consultation
•Only one (1) companion per patient is allowed.
•Consideration is given for patients who are non-ambulatory, oxygen
requiring, person with disability.
•A Triage area is located at the OPD entrance. The Triage Officer will screen
the patient for signs and symptoms related to Covid-19, possible exposure
to Covid-19 case , get vital signs and a brief history of the patient’s present
illness and chief complaint.

A.Patient Appointment and Consultation
•Separate waiting area is provided for non-Covid and Covid suspect
patients.
Adequate ventilation, social distancing and droplet precaution must be
observed at all times.
•Patients requiring hospital admission will be endorsed to the emergency
room for stabilization and initial medical management.
•A One-Way flow for patients and staff with clear signage of directions n \
going to the clinic should be posted.
•Consultation time should be kept at minimum to limit exposure.

Negative Pressure and High Efficiency Particulate Air (HEPA) filters are
installed on the OPD. General cleaning and disinfection must be done
twice a day especially “high touch” areas during lunch break and after
OPD operating hours. Disinfection using UV light is scheduled at least once
monthly.

4.Disinfection Protocol
a.Items in contact with the patient must be cleansed after each consultation.
b.Each patient will be encouraged and instructed to bring their own blanket or
towel to be used during physical examination.
c.Disinfecting wipes/ alcohol based rubs must be readily available at all times.

the OPD Clerks.

6.Physician’s Consultation area
a.Negative Pressure is installed on consultation areas. In the
absence of negative pressure, HEPA filters and acrylic barriers
are utilized for droplet precaution.
b.Physicians to wear appropriate personal protective equipment
(PPE) with separate sets for morning and afternoon
consultation
c.Change of gloves and hand washing after each patient contact
d.Surface disinfection (consultation table, chairs, examination
bed, & doorknobs) must be done after each patient
consultation.

personnel. Any form of gathering inside the OPD premises is not allowed.
9. Personnel from other areas of the hospital are not allowed to enter the OPD premises
to prevent cross contamination.

C. Quarantine Procedures for OPD Staff
1.Routine mandatory testing of OPD staff is required as recommended by the
Infection Control Committee (ICC).
2.All OPD personnel manifesting with symptoms related to Covid-19 must
notify the Infection Control Committee (ICC), undergo mandatory quarantine
and Covid-19 RT-PCR test.
3. In case that an OPD personnel tested positive for Covid-19, the OPD premises
will undergo disinfection.

1. Pediatrics with Covid and Non Covid concerns will be seen at the OPD for
medical consultation following the designated schedule.
2. A separate waiting area is provided for patients with Covid and Non Covid
concerns.
3. Initial medical management and diagnostic work up for Covid suspects
includes Covid 19 RT-PCR, Chest Xray and other blood tests as deemed
necessary.

4.Appropriate referral to Infection Control Committee (ICC) and City
Epidemiological and Surveillance Unit (CESU) for contact tracing must be
accomplished.
Personal information of all patients assessed as Covid Suspect will be endorsed
to the Social Service for coordination to CESU.

provided. Appropriate referral to subspecialty services will be carried out if
deemed necessary.
5. A prescription, detailed discharge instructions and will be provided to the
patient.
6. A date of follow up schedule (if necessary) will also be provided.
