Statement of the Problem
To what extent do internal and external factors such as
Cognitive Ability, Emotional Intelligence, Physical Well-being,
and Social Skills influence the academic competency of
Bachelor of Science in Accountancy (BSA) students in the
University of Baguio?
Is there a significant difference in the level of influence of
different internal and external factors affecting the academic
competence of accountancy students according to the type of
senior high school they came from and their senior high school
strand?
Research Design
The study will employ a descriptivequantitative research design to collect and
interpret data about the factors influencing the
academic competency of accountancy students.
Population and Locale of the Study
The study will focus on collecting relevant and
necessary data within the vicinity of the University of
Baguio, particularly the accountancy students currently
enrolled in the first semester of the academic year
2024-2025.
Inclusion: Bachelor of Science in Accountancy students
Exclusion: Bachelor of Science in Business Administration students
Data Gathering Tool
• Researchers will develop a researcher-made questionnaire.
• Data will be collected on factors influencing academic competency of BSA
students at the University of Baguio.
• The questionnaire will cover internal and external factors: emotional
intelligence, social skills, cognitive ability, and physical well-being.
• Indicators will be based on a review of relevant literature and theories.
• The researcher will acquire a tool validator to ensure the questionnaire’s
validity.
• Reliability testing will be conducted on a sample of BSBA students.
Data Gathering Procedure
• The research process will begin with a comprehensive literature review.
• Necessary permissions and approvals will be obtained.
• Structured questionnaires will be made to assess the influence of internal
and external factors on academic competency.
• Results will be presented in an organized manner, and it will focus on
implications and recommendations for educators and policymakers.
• Dissemination of results will be through academic publications and
presentations.
