1984 vs. 451 essay
Now that you have successfully completed two dystopian novels (yay!), please analyze both in a well
written response. You will have to use memory recall when discussing 451 as they are currently being
used in another class (don’t worry… I know you can do it!).
Ray Bradbury and George Orwell (Shakespeare!?!?) are two different writers who have written very
similar novels. At the same time, these novels both have different aspects (see conclusions!).
Choose one part of the slogan from 1984: “War is Peace. Freedom is Slavery. Ignorance is Strength.”
Once you have selected your part, generate a response which discusses where we see your aspect in
play in each novel. For example, if you chose “War is Peace,” you would prove it in 1984 and in 451.

- Use correct MLA format
- Do not write on the back of your papers – single sided only
- Define your aspect – (how is war peace?, how is freedom slavery?, or how is ignorance
