This course provide understanding of how to gain competitive advantage through operations. The course details different kinds of business processes, how they align customer requirement and explains how to measure key process parameters like capacity, lead time etc. It helps them to understand the complex processes underlying the development and manufacture of products as well as the creation and delivery of services. The course also covers process analysis to measure and improve operational performance in manufacturing and service organizations. In latter part of the module, the course focus is on planning strategic, tactical and operational decisions. Learning Outcomes/Course Objectives At the end of this course, the students would be able to Have a solid understanding of role of operations in order to provide a competitive advantage to various kinds of organizations in different markets. Develop ability to analyze the role of various operations in improving performance of any manufacturing or service organization Develop the ability to analyze various kind of business operations; measuring and improving the performance of manufacturing, project and service organization. The students are required to carefully study and analyze the operations and processes at any service, manufacturing or retail organization located nearby. They are required to measure the current efficiency of the system and propose the strategies to improve the efficiency of the processes. The final report (not exceeding 15 pages) shall be submitted on or before the date that will be communicated to the students.
