1- Active, by drugs
2- passive, letting patients die by withdrawing treatment
(switching off machines) or Withholding treatment (stop food
or not doing surgery)
- Indirect
Provide treatment as pain relief which has Side effects of
speeding death

Written by a physician to critically ill patients.
Order mean Do NoT Resuscitate
And doesn’t mean do not treat
order taken by a conscious and have capacity
To decided , and family can’t withdraw it
Reasons for DNR order
- no medical benefits from CPR
- very poor quality of life before CPR
- very poor quality of life after CPR
