Daily Records
Weekly Checks
• Adjust nipple heights: Birds should
stretch to drink but keep their feet flat
on the floor
• Mortality and culls: Record quantity of dead
(mortality) and culled (euthanized) birds per
house
• Increase water flow through nipple on each drinker
line
• Adjust feeder heights as necessary,
minimizing spillages
• Record ambient conditions: temperature
(maximum & minimum) and relative humidity
• Record the average weight
• Remove fallen stock and cull where
necessary
• Monitor litter moisture and maintain at
30-35%
• Water consumption ideally in ml/bird
• Reduce ambient temperature daily:
Day 1–28: 0.4-0.5°C per day
Day 29–35: 0.2-0.3°C per day
• Carbon Dioxide in parts per million
• Minimum ventilation programme
• Test alarms and verify controller
settings daily
• Record vaccinations/medications in the farm’s
log/medicine book
• Increase minimum ventilation daily
• Monitor feed silos, ensuring sufficient
feed until next delivery
Daily Checks
• Ensure good biosecurity at all times
• Throughout the day, inspect each
house. Observe bird activity, check
feed/ water/ventilation equipment,
ambient temperature and air quality
• Lighting programme, stating the dark period(s)
• Weigh birds each week (1% from 3 different areas)
• Test generator function for a minimum of 30 minutes
• Verify that sufficient feed is on order
• Verify that sufficient heating fuel is on order
