We use the present perfect simple with have / has and the past participle of the verb.
The past participle of regular verbs is formed in the same way as the past simple (by adding
the ending -ed to the verb). Each irregular verb forms the past participle in a different way. You
can find these in the Table of Irregular Verbs on pages 13-14 of the workbook.
We use the present perfect simple:
for actions which happened in the past, but we don’t mention when exactly.
Example: I have visited Rome twice.
Time expressions: ever / never / before / always / so far / once / twice / just / already / yet
ever: it is used in questions.
Example: Have you ever visited Paris?
never: It is used in affirmative sentences, but with negative meaning.
Example: She has never seen a snake.

have / has gone means that someone has gone somewhere and is still there.

Example: Alice has been to Berlin. (Now she is back.)
1. Susy is not here. She ____________ to the pharmacy.
2. We _____________ to Mexico twice.
3. I _______________ to that city yet.
4. Tom ____________ to work, he is in bed, sick.

2. What search engine do you usually use?
Since its start in 1998, Google has become one of the most popular search
engines. It has grown from a research project to a business that now employs
more than 20,000 people.
Google’s founders, Larry Page and Sergey Brin, met in 1995 when they were in
their twenties and graduate students in computer science at Standford University
in California. They realized that internet search was a very important field and
began working together to make searching easier. They both left their studies to
work on their project and have never returned to finish their degrees.
When Google started in 1998, it did 10,000 searches a day. Today is does 235
million searches a day in 40 languages. It indexes 1 trillion Web pages.
Have you ever noticed how many adds and banners there are on other search
engines? Well Google believed that people come to the Internet to search for
specific information not to be hit with a lot of unwanted data. The success of
Google over their rivals has proved that this is true.
In 2009, Forbes.com listed Page and Brin as having net worths of $ 12 billion
