INTRODUCTION AND RATIONALE
One of the 21st century skills that a K-12 learner must develop is numerical
competence using technology. The K-12 curriculum envisions “holistically
developed learners with 21st century skills”.
This pandemic has brought a different way of modalities of learning. With this
new normal, teachers, parents and learners were hard up in adjusting in the new
ways of learning. Thus, their mathematical skills especially in the operations of
integers were also affected.
As mentioned in Republic Act 10533, otherwise known as the Enhanced Basic
Education Act of 2013, teachers are required to increase the learning of students.
In addition, DepEd Order 42, s. 2017, which is known as the National Adoption
and Implementation of the Professional Standard for Teachers, also reiterates the
need for all teachers to perform competently to bring about an increase the 21st
century and an improvement to student learning. Moreover, DepEd Order 78, s.
2010 which is also known as the Guidelines on the implementation of the DepEd
Computerization Program (DCP) aims to provide public schools with appropriate
technologies that would enhance the teaching-learning process and meet the
challenges of. In the school, there is a need to contextualize and to localize the
delivery of Mathematics concepts such as making interactive activities through

Kotobee Author App in order to increase the very low achievement level of the
students. During the whole month of October, home visitation was conducted by
the researcher to check the learners in answering their modules. There were 25
incoming Grade 7 students who were discovered to be at risks in Mathematics
especially on the topic operations of integers. These students are behind as far as
learning and teaching grade 7 Mathematics to them is concerned which possesses
topics with higher and more difficult competencies. Thus, this problem should be
arrested to perform and solve worded problems in Mathematics.
Apps can act as built-in lessons and aid of a teacher in tracking a student’s
progress. Workable intervention using Kotobee Author App with interactive
activities must be accorded to be able to rescue them from failing. It must be
properly responded with care to be able to increase and develop their learning
skills especially in Mathematics. The researcher needs to rescue and reach out to
these types of students. Thus, the researcher finds special interests to help these
students to address the problem specially in the least mastered competency,
operations of integers according to the first summative test.
Project RIMAT-KA (Remedial Instructional Material App in Teaching- Kotobee
Author) is an offline app that can be shared to the students who have smart
phones specifically on the topic operations of integers. The intervention material
was developed by the teacher. This project contains the downloaded learning
activity sheets and contextualized video lessons. It consists of explanation of the
competencies in grade – 7 Mathematics through video power point presentations
and an e-book form. Also, different types of assessment can be performed on this
app, wherein, the students can enjoy answering them because they will know their
scores after taking the test. Also, it has passed through screening and validation
from the experts in the school and the district. Using interactive activities such as
Kotobee Author App, the learners will be able to manipulate, relate and adapt to
various learning opportunities and resources available within the locality or
community; profound learning will be assured and realized. Thus, the use of

simplified activity sheets and interactive activities using Kotobee Author App in
Grade 7 Mathematics is a timely strategy to solve the problem especially at this
time of pandemic. It is hoped that through this method, the performance of the
students in operations of integers will be enhanced. In addition, this strategy is in
line with the Basic Education Learning Continuity Plan. The RIMAT-KA will be a
big help for the learners and serves as the RIMAT (light) to the students who needs
remediation especially on the topic operations of integers.
III. PLAN OF ACTION
A. OBJECTIVES
This work plan is to improve the performance of the students specifically on the
operations of the integers using app through remedial instructional material. In
addition, the workplan also aims to familiarize the rules in the operations of
integers. The following objectives should be done:
1. use the app in studying operations of integers.
2. manipulate the apps with interactive activities.
3. answer the different activities in the app.
B. TIME FRAME
This workplan will be conducted from October 2023 to December 2023. The
participants to this workplan are the learners of the Grade 7-students of Agaman
National High School. These students who were taken purposefully and found very
low in their summative test. There were 25 incoming grade 7 students who were
discovered to be at risks in Mathematics especially on the topic operations of
integers.
These students are behind as far as learning and teaching grade 7
Mathematics to them is concerned which possesses topics with higher and more
difficult competencies. Thus, this problem should be arrested to perform and solve
worded problems in Mathematics. These students come from average families who
always help their parents in the field or do household chores while their parents
devote their time to earn money for their daily needs. Also, these students have smart
phones to access the Kotobee Author App.

IV. IMPACT OF THE WORKPLAN
This workplan will help in the attainment of DepEd goals and objectives as
mandated in Republic Act No. 9155 (RA No. 9155), otherwise known as the
Government of Basic Education Act of 2001, to formulate national educational
policies to improve the delivery of its services and achieve basic education outcomes
and RA No. 10533 entitled ”Enhanced Basic Education Act” also known as the K to
12 Program, which aims to equip Filipino learners with skills and competencies that
address the demands of the 21st Century even in the midst of pandemic. Thus,
DepEd aims to align all of its programs and projects toward EduKalidad and is
mobilizing field offices and schools to address gaps, improve student performance,
and prepare students with essential global and 21st century skills.
This workplan shall be an eye opener to every teacher that there is a need to
continuously develop the mathematical skills of our school learners amidst the
pandemic. The work plan will be of help in improving their performance in
mathematics specifically in the operations of integers through the use of apps.
Along the aforementioned, this work plan will be significant to the
following:
Learners – This workplan is significant to learners because it helps them to learn
and adjust in the new normal in mathematics through the use of app. Their
mathematical skills will continuously be developed and improved. Thus, the use of
app will benefit them to improve their performance in mathematics especially in the
operations of integers.

Teachers – This workplan is beneficial to teachers such that they can still
continuously share another aid of teaching student specially this pandemic. They
can adapt this new way of teaching to their respective classes. It will also orient them
on how to make interactive activities through the app in the new normal without
violating the ongoing IATF health protocols. Teachers will be assisted to come up
with their contextualized interactive activity sheets through the app in line with the
Distance Learning Delivery Mode of the Division.
Administrators – for the school administrator to monitor their teachers with the
contextualized and developed instructional materials given to their students. This
will also help the Administrators to encourage teacher to adopt the new normal era
of teaching and also to encourage teachers to come up with contextualized learning
activities through app in Mathematics and other subjects.
Parents – for the parents to support and develop the innate interest of their children
in mathematics.
